I understand how schools work from the inside

I’m Kristi J. Williams, Founder and Principal Consultant of KJW Inc.  My perspective is grounded in senior-level international school leadership and direct experience working inside a school’s governance system. For nine years, I served on the leadership team at the International Community School in Addis Ababa, where I led strategic planning, communications, advancement, and strategic partnerships while also serving as Board Administrator.

My governance experience is lived. I worked closely with Heads of School, Board Chairs, and trustees to support the Board’s ongoing work, strengthen governance practices, revise policy, navigate transitions, and maintain institutional continuity.

I began my career in marketing, communications, and advertising. Over more than three decades, I developed a strong foundation in strategy, positioning, stakeholder engagement, messaging, and communication through change.

Together these experiences give me an inside view of how schools function and how governance, strategy, relationships, and communication work together.

My connection to international education is also personal. My family has lived and worked internationally for many years, and our four children attended international schools.

Originally from Seattle, WA, I have lived and worked across multiple contexts in the U.S. and internationally. Today, I am based in Kenya and continue to partner with schools and organizations wherever they may be.
